Just came across your blog and first – I am very proud of you and your classmates.

Although having a short time with you all – your thoughts and observations remain important. Glad to see them – keep writing and sharing.

Yesterday, I met a retired General, who was part of the 1938 class at UIUC. Served as a Artillery 2LT in the Pacific – and needless to say, a paratrooper as well. How small our world is. Anyhow, made me think of you all and how lucky we are to have great men enter the ranks (whether for 4 – 10 or 20 yrs).

Don’t hesitate to shoot a note and let me know if there’s anything I can do.

Good Luck with the surgery. 30 days of convalescence sounds just about right. Especially since you;ll be getting some nice days ahead. We’re looking forward to 10 inches of snow tonight. Too bad we don’t have a toboggan, oh right, we couldn’t use it anyway – too old and out of shape. 22 days till flying south.
